Blood & Bone 2If you’re a fan of Michael Jai White, chances are you’ve watched one of his most entertaining films – Blood & Bone.

As far as martial arts films go the original Blood & Bone has one of the most popular martial arts actors working today as it’s lead, with some of the best action he has ever performed. Micheal Jai White of course.

…but there’s more to it than that.

Bone has a bit of a cult following and many people relate Michael Jai White to the character. Although this character is competing for attention on the Jai White list (Black Dynamite, Falcon, Spawn, Case Walker all stand out), Bone is one definitely deserving of more attention.

Here’s why….

The first film walks right into a sequel.

Spoilers people!

When Bone is asked to stay during the ending of the first film he clearly states that he has “some business to take care of” and walks off into the sunset.  I know, it sounds pretty cliche but they wouldn’t just through in a line like that if they weren’t intending on some kind of continuation.

Also, Bone just got out of jail and sorted out the business in the first film. But we get the feeling that this is only the first step of his journey and that he’s simply “passing through”.  With a guy as lethally talented as Bone, surely he’s on to bigger things which leads to the following….

Bone takes on a gang of Prisoners

Who the hell is Bone?

“Do you have any family Mr Bone?”  *change subject

“Where’d you learn to fight?”“Here and there”

Bone avoids answering any questions about his past.  The only thing we do know is he had a twin brother who was mistakenly killed because he looked identical.  So that begs the question – who was trying to kill him?

Does Bone have enemies still?  Why did he go to prison? We don’t know a thing about the guy and he was the main character of the film.  Mystery is a good thing, but slowly unraveling that mystery is something that sequels can do quite well.

There’s obviously a reason why Bone is able to step out of prison, walk into a fight circuit completely unknown and outclass their world champion (played by Matt Mullins). Also notice that when Bone is handed a gun he’s a crack shot.  They’ve set up the mystery quite well.

The possibilities are endless and open as so much of the character is yet to be designed.

There’s plenty of villains…

Ok, a new villain is easy but one that’s already related is more powerful and in this case, also quite easy.

James is still alive having the time of his life in prison. The consortium is a global network which I imagine isn’t too happy about Bone’s last fight at the local manor and also  – the guys who killed Bone’s brother could very well still be out there!

The history of the character has many possibilities when it comes to picking villains.

It has all of the possibilities of an excellent sequel.

The first film is awesome, the character is balanced, seemingly invincible and the action of the first film was utterfly fantastic.  I’m sure fans would love to see more of Bone and have him face more challenging opponents.

The funny thing is this isn’t a new thought and many people out there have already spoken up publicly about a possible sequel.  Obviously it’s not as simple as us all just writing some articles. The big wigs need convincing.

Here’s the interesting part…

The Script is written.

I don’t have to say anything, Bone himself has tweeted:

So… “crowd-fund it”?

As I said earlier, the big wigs need convincing. In 2013 Jai White had a meeting to push for the sequel and (obviously) it hasn’t happened. So what can we do to make it happen?

Here’s some info from Director Ben Ramsey (thanks to Action Elite for pointing it out from this interview):

Hey, don’t tell me – go tell Sony Pictures.” Flood them with emails. You want Blood and Bone 2, tell Sony pictures. I have an old script that I tried to get Michael Jai White attached to a long time ago that would be perfect and tailor-made for Blood and Bone 2. If they want to go that route, we’ve already got a script ready. It’s been a fantastic response, and just listening to what you’ve said … some people have put it in their top ten martial arts films of all time.”

“Flood them with Emails”,  Make some noise.

Stuff it, I’ll put this right here:  https://secure.sonypictures.com/corp/contactus.html

If you want to make some noise let them know.  Of course, this may not be your preferred method, so you can also flood social media!

So I put this up on Facebook in an attempt to make some noise (click to go to Facebook and see the status)

Or you can post something yourself.
